Mintos expands real estate offering

Latvian investment platform Mintos is expanding its real estate offerings on the platform this week. Users can now invest in apartments for short-term rental. These are properties listed on Airbnb and Booking.com, for example.

Mintos is a Latvian online investment platform known for its peer-to-peer loans. It was founded in 2015. Last year, retail investors invested nearly 1.2 billion euros, of which 954 million euros were invested through automated loan portfolios. Earlier this year, the platform launched Smart Cash investing. This allows users to invest in a BlackRock money market fund. It already offers bonds, real estate and ETFs as well.

Minimum investment of 50 euros

Now Mintos is expanding its offering in real estate. Until now, this investment option was mainly of interest to users with slightly more assets, but the platform wants to make it more accessible. Users can already invest with 50 euros in apartments for short-term rental.

The first apartments on the platform are situated in the center of Riga, Latvia

The income on this investment comes from sales through platforms like Booking and Airbnb. Investors can take advantage of an estimated net rental return of 6 to 8 percent per year. The first apartments offered by the platform are properties in Riga, Latvia. These are properties that are rented out as accommodation to guests for a limited time. If investors want to exit, they can sell the investment on the Secondary Market.

‘Opening the doors to a dynamic sector’

“By offering short-term rental properties, we are opening the doors to a dynamic sector that was once inaccessible to everyday investors”, said Martins Sulte, CEO and co-founder of Mintos. “Private investors can enjoy the benefits of rental income and capital growth without the hassle of property ownership and management through our real estate offerings.”
