Gemini launches in 5 European countries

US-based cryptocurrency exchange platform Gemini has launched in five European countries this week. It is now operating in Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Liechtenstein. The expansion follows its launch in Ireland earlier this year.

Gemini is a cryptocurrency broker where investors can buy, exchange and save bitcoin, ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. The company is known for its ActiveTrader, which is available to active users. This tool executes trades in microseconds and offers advanced charting, as well as multiple order types.

6 expansions in Europe this year

The company was founded in the US, but it has been active in the United Kingdom for several years. It has launched in six new European countries this year. As a result, consumers and institutions in these countries can open accounts which allows them to deposit, trade and use custody services in more than 100 cryptocurrencies.

‘Progress in Gemini’s rollout across Europe’

“Launching in these six countries represents further progress in Gemini’s continued rollout across Europe, which is built on a foundation of positive engagement with regulators and policymakers to obtain relevant authorizations and registrations”, said Gillian Lynch, Head of Europe at Gemini.

‘Gemini was the first company to register as a VASP in Ireland.’

“Going live in these jurisdictions follows our recent launch in Ireland, where Gemini was the first company to register with the Central Bank of Ireland as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP), and is authorized as an electronic money institution,” she added.
