eToro partners with Twitter

Online broker eToro has partnered with Twitter in an effort to further financial education. Twitter users can now see real-time prices for stocks, crypto and other assets. Users can also click through to eToro and start investing.

Online trading platform eToro currently has over 30 million users from more than a hundred countries. The platform enables trading in stocks, commodities, crypto and other currencies. Last year, it also added NFTs.

$Cashtags feature

In December last year, Twitter added a new feature called $Cashtags. Users can include the that in their search and access pricing data. According to the social media platform, there are on average 4.7 million searches with the new feature each day. Activity increases around earning announcements, for example when Apple released its Q4 2022 earnings, $cashtag searches hit 8 million.

Now, eToro has partnered with Twitter. Users searching with the $cashtag feature will be able to see real-time prices for stocks, crypto and other assets. Additionally, they will be able to click through to eToro’s platform and learn more about an asset. They can then also start investing.

Financial content on social media

“Financial content on social media has provided education to many who have felt excluded by more traditional channels. Twitter has become a crucial part of the retail investing community. It is where millions of ordinary investors go every day to access financial news, share knowledge and converse”, said Yoni Assia, CEO and co-founder of eToro. “As the social investing network, eToro was built on these very principles: community, knowledge-sharing and better access to financial markets.”
