Women outperformed men’s investments in 2024

According to investment platform Revolut, women made better investment decisions than men on the platform. Overall, women generated 4 percent higher returns on their investments. Additionally, more and more women are starting to invest.
Much has been written about the gender investment gap. Earlier research (in 2023) already showed that only 14 percent of angel investors in the United Kingdom are women. This can also be seen among retail investors. For example, research in 2023 in the Netherlands showed that 18 percent of Dutch women were active investors. In comparison, 29 percent of men were investing at that time.
New accounts from women increased 31% in 2024
According to recent research by Revolut, a turning point has been reached in the United Kingdom. The investment platform currently has 650,000 users in that country. Last year, the amount of women who opened an investment account on Revolut increased 31 percent compared to 2023. Men’s accounts increased by 20 percent.
Women aged 45-54 reached highest profit
Specifically, women in the ages of 18 to 24 boosted the number of accounts held (32 percent). When looking at profits, women between the ages of 45 and 54 years performed best when compared to men. They earned 1.2 percent more in 2024 than men in that age group.
Investments from millennial women outperformed men’s investments by 0.9%
Investments made by millennial women (ages 25-34) recorded 0.9 percent higher profits than men of the same age. And women aged between 55 and 64 years-old had 0.7 percent higher profits.
