Debitum: ‘Dutch investors invest more’

In a comparison between German and Dutch users of peer-to-peer lending platform Debitum, it is very clearly visible that Dutch investors go bigger. The average investment per head for Dutch investors is a lot higher than in Germany.
Debitum was founded in 2018 as a peer-to-peer lending platform. It finances business loans through partnerships with loan originators. The platform is active in several countries. Most of the loans originate in the Baltic states and the United Kingdom.
By the end of last year, Debitum announced that it had doubled its growth within a year since it was acquired. And this year, it wants to grow even more.
Average investment per head in Netherlands a lot higher
Recently, the platform released data about investment patterns from users in Germany and the Netherlands. There are a lot more users based in Germany (2,900) than in the Netherlands (209).
The average investment per person in the Netherlands is more than 31,200 euros
Interestingly, the average investment per head of Dutch investors is a lot higher: 31,238.82 euros. In Germany, that average is 10,243.64 euros. It seems that while there are fewer Dutch investors, they do allocate more capital per investment.
Germans make faster first investments
There are more differences between investors with these nationalities. After registration, German investors make their first investment within 26 days on average. In the Netherlands, that average is 35 days.
Additionally, a larger share of German investors engage with the platform over a longer time. Around 42 percent of German users are identified as long-term users. And 36 percent of Dutch investors are long-term users. There is not a wide gap, but it seems that German tend to use the platform for a more extended period.
‘Good response to reinvestment automation feature’
There are also some similarities. “Both audiences respond well to features like reinvestment automation and financial consistency”, says the platform. In both countries, almost 50 percent of investors reinvest at least half of their returns. This illustrates a confidence in Debitum.
