Fagura obtains crowdfunding license

Fagura, a crowdfunding platform from Moldova, has received the European Crowdfunding Service Provider license. It is the first crowdfunding platform from this country with the license. The National Financial Market Commission (CNPF) will regulate Fagura’s services.

The crowdfunding platform was founded in 2019, in Moldova. Users can invest in SME’s According to Fagura, it wants to develop a marketplace based on peer-to-peer lending technology. And in the long term, the platform wants to become a digital bank.

This week, Fagura and the Moldovan financial market authority CNPF announced that the platform has obtained the European crowdfunding license. Because of that, it is now able to publish and manage loans, apply creditworthiness checks to crowdfunding projects and suggest pricing and/or interest rates in crowdfunding offers.

First Moldovan platform with license

It is the first platform from Moldova with this license. With it, it can now also operate in other European countries. “This milestone allows us to manage the entire investment and funding cycle under one entity, paving the way for accelerated growth”, said Tudor Darie, CEO at Fagura, in a message to shareholders.

“Over the past 5 years, we have worked tirelessly alongside the Ministry of Economy and Parliament to create and approve Moldova’s crowdfunding law. We have funded Moldovan entrepreneurs with over 8.5 million euros and generated more than 1.25 million euros in returns for our investors. This license now marks a new beginning with a regulated platform built for transparency, advanced functionalities, and diversified investment opportunities.”
